Statement on Asian American Hate Crimes
As a Chinese Catholic school, we are proud to represent our Asian American community in Chicago’s Chinatown. The acts of violence and hate crimes against Asian Americans leave us heartbroken. We mourn with our Asian American community. We cannot stay silent and must speak out to protect our fellow Asian Americans. We pray for the lives lost in the shootings on Tuesday. We will be providing support for our faculty and students as we navigate this tragedy.
Tuesday, February 16th is a SNOW DAY
The St. Therese Chinese Catholic School community of the Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish mourns the loss of our former student Kevin Jiang. We extend our condolences to his fiance, family, and friends during this heartbreaking time. The entire St. Therese community prays for his family, friends, and the Yale community.
St. Therese Chinese Catholic School has decided to postpone our annual Chinese New Year Benefit until May. However, for the month of February, we have partnered with businesses in our community to support those who have been struggling due to the pandemic. Please consider purchasing gift cards from these businesses who continue to support our school and parish.
For information on participating businesses and how to purchase gift cards, please click here.
For the safety of our students, parents, teachers, and staff, we will be closing both school buildings on Tuesday, January 26.
All teachers will share assignments, activities, and other educational resources for your child for this independent learning day. For Tuesday, January 26 only, we will not have Zoom sessions because the storm might hamper the reliability of internet connections. Remind your children that they should be working on all their Tuesday assignments and catching up on earlier work that has not been completed yet.
