Service Hours
Membership in the St. Therese community offers a truly unique opportunity—forming relationships with mission-driven volunteers. We are blessed at our parish and school with a robust group of talented and passionate volunteers.
Our community service program begins in 1st Grade. Many of our volunteers remain active in our school and parish community volunteers throughout their lifetime. St. Therese offers a myriad of interactive volunteer opportunities that not only contribute to the advancement of school, parish, and community life, but also offer practical ways for individuals to discover personal fulfillment. Whether it is raising money for global solidarity efforts or simply cleaning up after a community event, St. Therese strives to connect people to social justice through service. Weekly bulletins (both parish and school) disseminate volunteer opportunities. Service logs for both the younger children and older children document individual growth in the volunteer culture at St. Therese. For those who come to our school community already involved in a particular outside volunteer activity, pre-approval is required. Students are required to get, complete, and obtain needed signatures on the St. Therese School Pre-Authorization Form for service hours AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE the student service occurs. Only the principal and assistant principals can approve service hours. Any service hours completed before meeting all of the above requirements will not be approved or credited. Any service hours done for organizations other than St. Therese School cannot exceed 8 hours per trimester; e.g., Girl Scouts. Individual hours for each activity will not be counted as service hours. Students must use the school’s service hour log to keep track of hours completed. Students may also use an authorized proof of participation slip in lieu of signature on service hour sheet; e.g., a signed church bulletin by Fr. Li or the Director of Religious Education It is a student’s responsibility to make sure his/her service log is updated and signed by the teacher in charge or administrator no later than two weeks after the event.
