Thank you for your interest in St. Therese Chinese Catholic School in Chinatown, Chicago.
We welcome transfer students applying to grades 1 through 8 from other schools.
Families in Chinatown, the South Loop, Bridgeport, and surrounding neighborhoods choose St. Therese for its rigorous academics, Mandarin language instruction, and strong Catholic school community.

1. Visit St. Therese School

All prospective transfer families are required to complete two visits:

First Visit: Open House
  • Attend a scheduled Open House or make one via appointment with the Registrar
  • Tour the school and classrooms
  • Learn about our academic programs and curriculum
  • Meet with the Principal and Registrar
Second Visit: Student Visit
  • Your child attends this visit
  • Classroom observation and interaction
  • Meeting with the Principal and Registrar

Important RequirementParents must complete an informal interview with the Principal.
A student is not considered for admission until this meeting is completed.

2. Submit the Admissions Inquiry Form and Required Documents

Begin the Application Process
After the second visit, families must complete the Admissions Inquiry Form, including:
  • Student name and date of birth
  • Parent/guardian contact information
Once submitted, the student will be placed on the appropriate list for their incoming grade level.

Important Policy
Students cannot be registered without completing a school visit with a parent.
Applications submitted without a visit will be returned.

Required Transfer Documents
Families applying for transfer admission (Grades 1–8) must submit: Once submitted, St. Therese will request official transcripts and records from the student’s current school.

Important Note
Failure to provide all required records may jeopardize enrollment.

Grade-Level Availability
Transfer admission into 7th and 8th grade is limited and generally not available.

3. Registration Day

Final Enrollment Step
Families invited to register must attend Registration Day and bring:
  • Child’s official birth certificate
  • Registration and curriculum fee (non-refundable)
After submission, families will receive a link to complete online registration.
Please refer to the Application and Registration Checklist for additional required documents.
On registration day, parents are asked to bring:
  • Their child’s official birth certificate
  • Combined registration-curriculum fee

After submitting your student’s birth certificate, registration-curriculum fee, and admission application, we will send a link to complete the registration online.

4. Sign a Probationary Agreement

90-Day Evaluation PeriodAll transfer students are admitted on a 90-day probationary period.
During this time, students are expected to:
  • Maintain passing grades
  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior and conduct
  • Successfully adapt to the school’s academic expectations
Student Support & FitSt. Therese carefully evaluates each student’s:
  • Academic background
  • Behavioral history
  • Medical and developmental needs
Families must provide complete educational and medical documentation, including:
  • Academic and behavioral records
  • Psychological or educational evaluations (if applicable)
Important PolicyIf a student is unable to meet academic or behavioral expectations, or requires accommodations beyond the school’s capacity:
  • Enrollment may be discontinued
  • Tuition may be prorated and refunded (excluding non-refundable fees)
